HVGC-1000A-M-D2 LED Driver

MEAN WELL HVGC-1000A-M-D2 is a 1008 W constant-power LED driver with 4200 mA rated current and a 95–240 V constant-current operating region. This IP67 Class I metal-case version provides programmable smart timer dimming and a 12 V / 500 mA auxiliary output. Select the LED operating point within the model-specific I–V envelope; current and voltage limits cannot be combined arbitrarily.

D01 example: elapsed operation	0–6 h: 100%; 6–7 h: 70%; 7–11 h: 50%; 11–14 h: 70%.
D02 example: elapsed operation	0–1 h: 50%; 1–3 h: 80%; 3–8 h: 100%; 8–11 h: 60%; 11–14 h: 80%. Use elapsed time; the example’s printed ending clock time does not agree with its duration table.
D03 example qualification	The D03 table lists 18:00 / 20:00 / 24:00 / 04:00 with 100% / 75% / 50% / 25%, but its illustration and explanatory text show a different 70% / 100% / 70% profile. Confirm the required programmed profile with MEAN WELL; neither inconsistent example is a promised preset.
Programming interface	PROG+ purple; PROG− pink. D2 identifies programmable smart-timer dimming, not DALI-2. Confirm compatible programming equipment and the required program with MEAN WELL.

Thermal and environmental conditions

Case operating temperature	Tcase −40 to +90°C; maximum case temperature +90°C. This is not the ambient-temperature limit.
Cooling and ambient derating	Horizontal mounting and free-air convection. At 277 VAC, 100% load through +45°C, then 60% at +50°C; above 347 VAC, 100% through +50°C, then 60% at +55°C. The curves stop at these endpoints. At rated current in the constant-power region, maximum workable ambient temperature is +50°C typical at 347 VAC.
Case-temperature load curve	The horizontal-mounting case-temperature curve shows 100% load through +90°C and stops there. Observe both case and ambient limits.
Altitude derating	Above 2000 m (6500 ft), reduce allowable ambient temperature by 3.5°C per additional 1000 m for this fanless driver.
Humidity and storage	Working: 20–95% RH, non-condensing. Storage: −40 to +80°C and 10–95% RH, non-condensing.

Installation

Installation safety	Disconnect the mains supply and prevent accidental reconnection before installation or maintenance. Have faults examined by a qualified technician; do not open the power-supply case yourself.
Ventilation and mounting	Keep ventilation clear and do not stack objects on the unit. Keep 10–15 cm clearance when the adjacent device is a heat source. Follow this model’s mounting, ambient-temperature and output-derating requirements.
System wiring and protection	Use approved primary and secondary wiring rated for at least the applicable unit current. Provide suitable system-level insulation and an enclosure around single-insulated wiring; verify EMC again in the completed system.
Environmental and load limits	Do not immerse the unit or install it near fire or above its specified ambient limit. Keep output current and power within the model’s rated operating envelope. If a fitted external flexible cable is damaged, replacement is limited to the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person.

Input switching	For the catalog ErP condition, use this driver behind a switch; do not connect it permanently to the mains.
AC input switching requirement	To prevent abnormal operation, the catalog specifically requires a “two-way switch” at the AC input. Confirm the required switching arrangement with MEAN WELL and follow the applicable installation design.
