MEAN WELL RPS-60-48 is an open-frame medical AC/DC power supply rated at 48 V, 1.25 A and 60 W. Its 4 × 2-inch PCB format uses free-air convection cooling and Class I construction with protective grounding. Primary-to-secondary insulation is specified as 2 × MOPP; BF use requires appropriate consideration of the complete medical system. Continuous and short-duration output limits are given separately below.

Medical computer monitors, oral irrigators, hemodialysis machines and sleep-apnea equipment, subject to the finished system’s safety assessment. |
Select by the complete model and the actual ratings below. The series number does not replace the model-specific continuous power rating.
Model-Specific DC Output
| DC output voltage |
48 V. |
| Rated current |
1.25 A. |
| Printed current range |
0–1.375 A; the part above rated current is subject to the short-duration peak rating. |
| Rated output power |
60 W, as printed for this exact model. |
| Peak load |
66 W for 10 seconds maximum, subject to the conditions below. |
| Ripple and noise, maximum |
100 mVp-p. |
| Output-voltage adjustment |
45.6–52.8 V. |
| Voltage tolerance |
±1.0%; includes set-up tolerance, line regulation and load regulation. |
| Line regulation |
±0.5%. |
| Load regulation |
±1.0%. |
| Efficiency, typical |
86%. |
The printed peak-load rating is 66 W for no more than 10 seconds. It is not a continuous rating. Peak duty cycle must not exceed 33% within every 30 seconds, and average output power must not exceed this model’s rated power. These limits apply together.
Unless stated otherwise, parameters are measured at 230 VAC, rated load and 25°C ambient. Preserve the printed power and current limits together rather than increasing either limit through rounding.
Ripple and noise are measured at 20 MHz bandwidth using a 12-inch twisted pair terminated with parallel 0.1 µF and 47 µF capacitors.
Input, Timing and Leakage
| Input range |
90–264 VAC or 127–370 VDC. Apply the input-voltage derating curve. |
| AC frequency |
47–63 Hz. |
| Input current, typical |
1.8 A at 115 VAC; 1 A at 230 VAC. |
| Cold-start inrush, typical |
30 A at 115 VAC; 60 A at 230 VAC. |
| No-load power consumption |
Less than 0.75 W. |
| Set-up and rise time |
500 ms set-up and 30 ms rise at both 230 VAC and 115 VAC, full load. |
| Hold-up time, typical |
60 ms at 230 VAC; 12 ms at 115 VAC, full load. |
| Leakage current |
Earth leakage less than 150 µA at 264 VAC; touch current less than 100 µA at 264 VAC. Touch current is measured from primary input to DC output. |
| Block-diagram frequency |
100 kHz switching-frequency reference. |
Protection
| Short circuit and overload |
Short-circuit protection is listed. Overload threshold: 115–150% of rated output power; hiccup mode recovers automatically after the fault is removed. |
| Overvoltage threshold |
55.2–64.8 V. |
| Overvoltage recovery |
Output voltage shuts down; re-power on to recover. |
Protection thresholds are not extra continuous-output allowances. Apply the model-specific continuous and peak limits as well as temperature and input-voltage derating.
Cooling, Derating and Environment
| Cooling and working ambient |
Free-air convection; −20 to +70°C with derating. |
| Horizontal temperature/load curve |
100% load from −20 to +50°C, reducing to 50% at +70°C. |
| Input-voltage/load curve, 60 Hz |
80% load at 90 VAC, rising to 100% at 115 VAC; 100% plateau through 264 VAC. |
| Humidity and storage |
Working: 20–90% RH, non-condensing. Storage: −40 to +85°C and 10–95% RH, non-condensing. |
| Temperature coefficient |
±0.03%/°C over 0–50°C. |
| Vibration |
10–500 Hz, 2 G, 10 minutes per cycle; 60 minutes each along X, Y and Z. |
| Operating altitude |
3000 m maximum. Above 2,000 m, reduce the allowable ambient temperature by 3.5°C per additional 1,000 m for this fanless supply. |
Apply temperature and input-voltage limits together. Use the complete plotted curves for intermediate conditions; the upper operating temperature is a derated point, not a full-power rating.
Dimensions, Installation and Connectors
| Dimensions, L × W × H |
101.6 × 50.8 × 29 mm. |
| PCB footprint and mounting holes |
4 × 2 inches; four Ø3.3 mm holes on a 95.25 × 44.45 mm centre pattern, with 3.175 mm edge offsets. |
| Drawing orientation and clearance |
Top-view connector numbering; dimensions in millimetres, general tolerance ±1 mm unless noted. The side view separately marks underside projections of 3 mm maximum; allow clearance according to the complete drawing. |
| AC input connector CN1 |
JST B3P-VH or equivalent. Pin 1: AC/N; pin 2: no pin; pin 3: AC/L. |
| DC output connector CN2 |
JST B4P-VH or equivalent. Pin 1: +V; Pin 2: +V; Pin 3: −V; Pin 4: −V. |
| Mating connector references |
Housing: JST VHR or equivalent, as printed. Terminal: JST SVH-21T-P1.1 or equivalent. The VHR reference is a series name; select the exact housing position count and compatible terminal for CN1 or CN2. |
| Board component references |
FS1 and FS2: T2.5/250V, as marked in the drawing. SVR1 is the output-voltage adjustment reference. |
| Grounding and heatsinks |
Class I installation requires grounding. M1 is safety ground; for better EMC performance, establish an electrical connection between M1, M2 and chassis grounding. Do not short HS1 and HS2. |
The connector, housing and terminal references identify interface parts for selection; the catalogue does not state that loose mating housings, terminals, cables or mounting hardware are included. Select the compatible position count and wiring arrangement without inventing unprinted ordering suffixes. The duplicated +V or −V pins, where present, belong to the same single output. Use the complete mechanical drawing and installation instructions.
