Voltage tolerance includes setup tolerance, line regulation and load regulation.

The complete model suffix selects the communication version. The unsuffixed model has no PMBus/CANBus interface; PM and CAN are separate by-request versions. A communication option is not a standard feature of every RSP-1600.

Input, Timing and Protection

Continuous input range 90 to 264 VAC / 250 to 370 VDC; 47 to 63 Hz
Active PFC, typical power factor 0.97 at 230 VAC, full load
Typical AC input current 15 A at 115 VAC; 8.5 A at 230 VAC
Typical inrush current 35 A at 230 VAC, cold start
Leakage current <2 mA at 230 VAC
Setup / rise / typical hold-up time 1500 / 60 ms at 230 VAC, full load; hold-up 16 ms at 75% load or 10 ms at full load, 230 VAC
Overload threshold 105 to 115% of rated output current
Overvoltage threshold 63 to 75 V

Short-circuit and overload protection use constant-current limiting, followed by output shutdown after 5 seconds. Re-power to recover after the output voltage has fallen.

Overvoltage protection shuts down the output and requires re-powering. Overtemperature protection shuts down the output and recovers automatically when temperature decreases. These protection thresholds are not additional continuous output ratings.

The block diagram includes active inrush-current limiting and shows PFC / PWM switching frequencies of 90 / 70 kHz.

The supply withstands a 300 VAC input surge for 5 seconds. This transient withstand feature does not extend its continuous 264 VAC input limit.

Cooling, Environment and Derating

Cooling Built-in thermostatically controlled DC fan
Working temperature -30 to 70°C, with derating
Humidity and storage Operation: 20 to 90% RH; storage: -40 to +85°C and 10 to 95% RH, non-condensing
Temperature coefficient ±0.03%/°C from 0 to 50°C

The 60 Hz input-derating table specifies 180–264 VAC: 1608 W / 33.5 A; 115 VAC: 1286.4 W / 26.8 A; 100 VAC: 1125.6 W / 23.45 A; 90 VAC: 964.8 W / 20.1 A.

In the horizontal installation shown, full-load operation extends to 50°C; the permitted load then falls along the model-specific curve to 50% at 70°C. Apply input and temperature derating together.

The -30 to -25°C portion of the derating curve is specified for 230 VAC input only. The fan is thermostatically controlled; no ambient fan-switching threshold is specified here.

For this fan-cooled model, reduce the allowable ambient temperature by 5°C per 1000 m above 2000 m altitude. This note does not establish an unlimited operating altitude.

Vibration rating: 10 to 500 Hz, 2 G; 10 minutes per cycle, 60 minutes along each X, Y and Z axis. Keep the fan inlet and outlet clear.

The published efficiency-versus-load graph is for the 48 V model measured at 230 VAC; it is not an efficiency curve for every voltage or input condition.

Remote Sense, Voltage and Current Programming

Remote sense compensates up to 0.5 V of wiring drop. Connect CN1 pin 15 (+S) and pin 16 (-S) to the corresponding load terminals using a twisted pair. When remote sense is not used, connect pin 15 to pin 13 (+V Signal) and pin 16 to pin 14 (-V Signal) for correct local-sense operation. Signal pins 13 and 14 cannot supply the load.

External DC control at PV (CN1 pin 12) relative to -V Signal (pin 14) programs 40 to 125% of nominal voltage for this model. Follow the dedicated control curve: approximately 0.4 to 1 V holds its minimum setting and the illustrated range rises to 125% near 4.7 V. Do not assume a single linear conversion over the entire input range. Above 100% nominal output voltage, derate allowable output current along the curve from 100% at nominal voltage to 80% at 125% voltage.

External DC control at PC (CN1 pin 11) relative to pin 14 programs the constant-current setting from 20 to 100% of rated current. The curve holds 20% at approximately 0.4 to 1 V and rises to 100% near 4.7 V. Use the function-manual curve and stay within the specified control range.

PV and PC operate when the supply is not operating on PMBus/CANBus. The built-in SVR operates only when neither bus control nor PV/PC is being used. If output voltage remains below 80% of the set voltage for 5 seconds, the output shuts down; re-power to recover. This shutdown condition also limits use as a constant-current source.

Remote ON/OFF, Auxiliary Outputs and Alarms

For dry-contact remote control, connect a switch between CN1 pin 4 (Remote ON/OFF) and pin 3 (+5V-AUX): closed turns the output ON and open turns it OFF. For voltage control, the pin-4 signal is referenced to pin 2 (GND-AUX), as specified by the isolated-signal pin-table note: 4.5 to 5.5 V is ON and -0.5 to +0.5 V is OFF. Maximum control voltage is 5.5 V. Follow the complete electrical-signal or dry-contact arrangement in the function manual.

CN1 pin 1 provides nominal 12 V auxiliary power (10.6 to 13.2 V), maximum 0.8 A. Pin 3 provides nominal 5 V auxiliary power (4.5 to 5.5 V), maximum 0.3 A. Both return to pin 2 (GND-AUX), are isolated from the main output, incorporate ORing diodes and are not controlled by remote ON/OFF.

DC-OK is CN1 pin 5, referenced to GND-AUX. The pin table specifies a high level of 3.5 to 5.5 V when output is at or below 77% ±5%, and a low level of -0.5 to +0.5 V at or above 80% ±5%. T-ALARM is pin 6: high (3.5 to 5.5 V) indicates the internal temperature alarm or fan failure; low (-0.5 to +0.5 V) indicates normal temperature and normal fan operation. These isolated pins are signal outputs only, rated at 10 mA maximum; use the stated logic levels and reference.

The indicator is green for normal operation and red for an abnormal condition such as overtemperature protection, overload protection or fan failure.

Parallel Operation and Bus Termination

Up to six compatible units can operate in parallel. Use short, large-diameter output wires and adjust individual output voltages to within 0.2 V. Maximum shared current is rated current per unit × number of units × 0.9; input and temperature derating still apply. The family 9600 W (5+1) headline does not override this design limit.

Connect CN500 DA, DB and -V Signal between units as illustrated; twist long signal pairs to reduce noise pickup. For one unit, leave CN500 unconnected and set SW1 ON. For two parallel units, connect CN500 and set both SW1 switches ON. For three to six units, set the first and last SW1 ON and all intermediate switches OFF.

Current sharing may not be fully balanced when the load is below 5% of the aggregate rated current of the parallel units. Ripple and noise can exceed the normal specification at this light load and return to the normal specified level once the load is above 5% of that aggregate rating.

Connectors, Signals and Selected Communication Version

CN1 uses HRS DF11-16DP-2DS or equivalent with mating housing HRS DF11-16DS or equivalent. Pins 1/2/3 are +12V-AUX/GND-AUX/+5V-AUX; pin 4 is remote ON/OFF; pins 5/6 are DC-OK/T-ALARM; pin 10 is reserved (NC); pins 11/12 are PC/PV; pins 13/14 are +V Signal/-V Signal; pins 15/16 are +S/-S.

CN1 pins 7/8/9 are reserved (NC); CN500 pins 7/8 are NC. Do not assume a PMBus or CANBus interface is installed. Address and PV/PC signals are non-isolated and referenced to -V Signal. Communication signals on CN500 are isolated and referenced to GND-AUX; do not interchange these returns.

CN500 uses HRS DF11-8DP-2DS or equivalent with mating housing HRS DF11-8DS or equivalent. Pins 1/2 are DA and pins 3/4 are DB, differential digital signals for parallel control. Pins 5/6 are -V Signal for function reference and cannot be connected directly to a load. SW1 selects the terminating resistor for the DA/DB parallel-control signals.

The printed crimp-contact reference for both connectors is HRS DF11-**SC or equivalent. This wildcard is not a complete orderable contact code; confirm the exact contact for the chosen wire and housing. The listed mating references do not establish included loose housings, contacts, cables or jumpers. The required local-sense and remote-control connections are not a statement that factory jumpers are already installed.

Dimensions, Weight and Installation

Housing dimensions (L × W × H) 300 × 85 × 41 mm
Catalog single-unit reference weight 2100 g
Packing reference 2.1 kg; 6 pcs / 13.6 kg / 1.25 CUFT

Drawing dimensions are in millimetres with ±0.5 mm tolerance. Housing dimensions exclude the need to allow for terminal projections, mounting flanges, wiring and the airflow shown in the complete drawing.

Case No. 250 has a 41 mm / 1U body. The side drawing marks 2-M4 L=5 on each side; the bottom marks 3-M3 L=4. Recommended M3 mounting penetration is at most 4 mm with 6 to 8 kgf·cm torque; M4 penetration is at most 5 mm with 7 to 10 kgf·cm torque.

The drawing also shows mounting-flange widths of 105 mm and 115 mm and a 12 mm maximum AC-input terminal projection; the -V and +V output bars extend 28 mm and 38 mm respectively. The output tab marks 2-M3 and a 6.5 mm hole. AC terminals are 1 FG (protective earth), 2 AC/N, 3 AC/L, with maximum AC-terminal torque 8 kgf·cm. Follow the full drawing for mounting centres and clearances; do not apply the case-screw torque indiscriminately to other connections.

The manufacturer describes the RSP-1600 family as having power density up to 25 W/in³; this is a series-level maximum, not a separately established value for every voltage model.
