MEAN WELL SDR-480-48 is a single-output industrial DIN rail power supply rated at 48 V DC, 10 A and 480 W. It accepts 90–264 VAC or 127–370 VDC, uses free-air convection and includes active PFC, adjustable output and a DC OK relay. Peak output up to 720 W is limited to three seconds and the operating conditions below.

| Voltage tolerance |
±1%, including setup tolerance, line regulation and load regulation. |
| Line / load regulation |
±0.5% / ±1.0%, respectively. |
| Typical efficiency |
94% typical at 230 VAC, rated load and 25°C ambient. |
Input and Timing
| AC / DC input |
90–264 VAC or 127–370 VDC; AC frequency 47–63 Hz. |
| Active PFC / typical power factor |
Built-in active power-factor correction; typical PF 0.94 at 230 VAC and 0.99 at 115 VAC, at full load. |
| Typical AC input current |
5 A at 115 VAC; 2.5 A at 230 VAC. |

Unless otherwise stated, specifications are measured at 230 VAC input, rated load and 25°C ambient.
Peak Loading and Derating
| Peak-duration limit |
Up to 720 W for no more than 3 seconds, within the permitted input and temperature conditions. Peak capability is not a continuous power rating. |
| Temperature curves |
For vertical mounting, the continuous-load curve at 230 VAC allows 100% through +60°C, while at 100 VAC the full-load limit is +55°C; both decrease to 80% at +70°C. The three-second peak curve has an upper envelope of 150% through +60°C, decreasing to 120% at +70°C. Apply the input-voltage limit and average-power restriction as well. |
| Input-voltage curve |
At 60 Hz AC, the graph shows 90% load at 90 VAC, increasing to 100% at 100 VAC and remaining at 100% through 264 VAC. |
| Cooling / orientation |
Free-air convection; use vertical mounting for the published temperature-derating curves. Keep the ventilation path unobstructed. |
The average output power must not exceed 480 W, and each peak must last no more than 3 seconds. The second page 12 example shows 240 W for 15 seconds followed by 720 W for 3 seconds; its calculated cycle average is 320 W before applying any additional derating. Do not use a peak diagram to bypass the average-power limit.
Apply the input and temperature restrictions together; use the more restrictive allowable load. See PDF page 12 for the full curves.
Protection and DC OK Monitoring
| Short circuit / overload |
The catalogue lists short-circuit protection. At 110–150% of rated output power, overload operation lasting more than 3 seconds is followed by output shutdown with automatic recovery. |
| Above 150% rated power |
Constant-current limiting with automatic recovery within 2 seconds; operation beyond 2 seconds may cause output shutdown. |
| Overvoltage |
56–65 V; output shutdown, with automatic or re-powering recovery. |
| Overtemperature |
Output shutdown, with automatic recovery after the temperature decreases. The catalogue does not specify a numerical trip temperature for this model. |
| DC OK relay states |
Contact closed: PSU turns on / DC OK. Contact open: PSU turns off / DC Fail. |
| DC OK contact ratings |
Maximum resistive-load ratings: 60 VDC / 0.3 A, 30 VDC / 1 A, or 30 VAC / 0.5 A. |
| Front indication / adjustment |
DC OK LED and +V ADJ output adjustment are shown on the mechanical drawing. |
Protection thresholds describe fault response; they do not extend the permitted three-second peak duration. The DC OK relay is a monitoring contact, not an auxiliary power output.
Environment and Reliability
| Working temperature / humidity |
−25 to +70°C subject to the stated derating; 20–95% RH, non-condensing. |
| Storage temperature / humidity |
−40 to +85°C; 10–95% RH. |
| Temperature coefficient |
±0.03%/°C over 0–50°C. |
| Vibration |
Component: 10–500 Hz, 2G, 10 min/cycle, 60 min along each X, Y and Z axis. Mounting: compliance with IEC60068-2-6. |
| MTBF reference |
964.2 K hours minimum, Telcordia SR-332 (Bellcore); 91.9 K hours minimum, MIL-HDBK-217F at 25°C. These are reliability calculations, not a guaranteed service life. |
For this fanless model, apply an additional ambient-temperature derating of 3.5°C per 1000 m above 2000 m. This footnote does not specify a maximum approved installation altitude.
