LDC-55DA2 linear LED driver
MEAN WELL LDC-55DA2 is a 55 W DALI-2 and PUSH dimmable linear LED driver with resistor-selectable constant-current output from 500 to 1600 mA (1050 mA factory default). Match the LED string to the 27–56 V operating envelope and the selected current; the rated power and the catalog I–V boundary must both be respected.

Output and current selection
Model and function
LDC-55DA2; DALI-2 and PUSH dimmable. Slim metal housing, active PFC and a catalog flicker-free design with low output-current ripple.
Rated output power
55 W maximum within the published constant-power operating envelope. No temporary overload or peak-power rating is specified.
Output current region
500–1600 mA; factory default 1050 mA. Preset the rated current with an external resistance across IADJ, rather than a DIP switch.
Constant-current voltage region
27–56 V, subject to the current-setting I–V diagram. The low-current corner has a higher minimum voltage; the whole voltage/current rectangle is not usable. Select the LED string inside the shaded operating area.
Full-power current range
980–1600 mA as listed in the specification; output voltage × current must remain at or below 55 W and inside the I–V boundary.
Open-circuit voltage
60 V maximum.
Low-frequency current ripple
3.0% maximum at rated current.
Current tolerance
±5.0%.
Current-setting connection
Connect the setting resistor between TB2 pins 7 and 8 (IADJ). The table below lists catalog nominal values. NC means an open setting-resistor connection, which gives 500 mA; it is distinct from the stated factory default. Select the current to match the LED load and its operating voltage.

Input and electrical performance
AC input
180–295 VAC, 47–63 Hz. The current specification publishes no DC input operating range.
Input/load derating
At 60 Hz, the static-characteristic plot shows 100% load over 180–295 VAC. Temperature and I–V operating limits still apply.
Setup time
500 ms at 230 VAC. Measured at the first cold start; switching the supply ON/OFF can increase setup time.
Efficiency
The shared specification table gives a 90% typical reference at 230 VAC/full load. Note 6 applies a 2% reduction only to the DA type; no separate DA2 correction is stated. Confirm the applicable DA2 efficiency with the manufacturer rather than treating either figure as a DA2-specific guarantee.
Power factor
Typical PF ≥0.95 at 230 VAC and load ≥50%; PF ≥0.90 at 277 VAC and load ≥75%.
Total harmonic distortion
THD <10% at load ≥50% on 230 VAC, or load ≥75% on 277 VAC.
AC current (typical)
0.35 A at 230 VAC; 0.25 A at 277 VAC.
Inrush current (typical)
Cold start 30 A at 230 VAC; 300 μs pulse width measured at 50% of peak current, per NEMA 410.
Circuit-breaker reference
At 230 VAC: up to 17 units on a 16 A type B breaker, or 29 on a 16 A type C breaker. The installation manual bases its matching values on ABB S200 breakers; verify the actual breaker and installation.
Leakage current
<0.75 mA at 277 VAC.
Low-load power
Catalog no-load/standby consumption <0.5 W.
ErP installation condition
Use behind a switch; do not leave the LED power supply permanently connected to the mains when meeting the cited ErP lighting-fixture requirements.
Control interface
Fitted control
DA2 suffix: DALI-2 and PUSH dimming, explicitly listed in the model option table. No B-type 3-in-1 DIM interface is specified for this SKU.
DA2 documentation boundary
The family operating page describes a DALI interface, while the compliance and terminal tables explicitly label DA type. They do not separately define DA2 protocol parts, terminal assignment, low-end step or PUSH timing. Confirm these details for the supplied DA2 hardware with MEAN WELL before connecting or commissioning it.
Family DA reference
The family DA description gives 16 groups, 64 addresses and an 8% rated-output-power first step; DALI and PUSH cannot operate simultaneously and DA is the default mode. These are DA-family references, not separately confirmed DA2 performance limits.
Family PUSH reference
The illustrated DA circuit uses a retractive push-to-make button from Ls/DA+ to AC/L, with N/DA− connected to AC/N; a button from Ls to AC/N causes a short circuit. Its DA timing is 0.1–1 s ON/OFF, 1.5–10 s dim/reverse, >11 s reset to 100%; <0.05 s is ignored, with 100% factory dimming. Its stated limit is 10 drivers and 20 m to the last driver. Obtain the DA2-specific wiring/operation confirmation before applying this reference.
DALI-2 wiring conditions
Verify the actual DALI-2 controller/network and the hardware terminal markings. For standalone use with dimming conductors smaller than 18 AWG (0.75 mm²), the installation manual requires SELV controllers/networks; consult MEAN WELL for FELV. This is not permission to substitute low-voltage control wiring for mains-referenced PUSH connections.
Temperature compensation, protection and environment
NTC connection
Connect an external temperature-sensing NTC across TB2 pins 5 and 6, with its sensing point on the lighting system or surrounding environment. Without an NTC, the driver runs at the current selected through IADJ.
NTC characteristic
Below 33 kΩ, output current decreases as NTC resistance decreases; above 33 kΩ, output current remains normal. The table does not specify the exact equality point. MEAN WELL does not supply the NTC; the published values were measured using resistance. Check the temperature curve when selecting a new NTC brand.
NTC/control interaction
The catalog states that dimming is invalid while temperature compensation is in use.
Short-circuit protection
Hiccup mode or constant-current limiting; automatic recovery after the fault is removed.
Overvoltage protection
61–80 V. Output shutdown with automatic recovery or recovery after re-powering, as stated in the catalog.
Overtemperature protection
Output shutdown with automatic recovery.
Case-temperature range
Tcase −25 to +80°C; maximum case temperature +80°C. Measure at the marked tc location in the mechanical drawing.
Ambient/load derating
Horizontal mounting: 100% load from −25 to +50°C; the plotted points are 80% at +60°C and 60% at +65°C. The ambient curve ends at +65°C. Meet both ambient-load and maximum-case-temperature limits; a case-temperature rating is not an unrestricted ambient rating.
Case/load curve
The horizontal-mounting case curve remains at 100% through +80°C and ends there. This does not override ambient-temperature derating.
Cooling and altitude
Free-air convection. Nonstandard mounting or higher ambient temperature may require further current derating. Above 2000 m altitude, reduce the allowed ambient temperature by 3.5°C per additional 1000 m for this fanless driver.
Working humidity
20–95% RH, non-condensing.
Storage conditions
−40 to +80°C; 10–95% RH.
Temperature coefficient
±0.03%/°C over 0–60°C.
Vibration
10–500 Hz, 2 G; 10 minutes per cycle, 60 minutes along each X, Y and Z axis.
Performance-plot conditions
PF, THD and efficiency plots use Tcase 75°C. THD and efficiency examples use a 1100 mA setting; they do not replace the tabulated typical efficiency or the operating envelope.
Lifetime reference
Typical life expectancy >50,000 operating hours when Tcase, especially at the marked tc point, is about 70°C or less. Lifetime decreases with increasing case temperature; this is a catalog operating-life reference, not a separate warranty duration.
MTBF
2521 K hours minimum, Telcordia SR-332 (Bellcore); 226.1 K hours minimum, MIL-HDBK-217F at 25°C.
Mechanical installation and terminals
Dimensions
320 × 30 × 21 mm (L × W × H); metal case 258A. Mechanical drawing tolerance ±1 mm.
Mounting geometry
Two Ø4.5 mm end mounting locations, 313 mm center spacing, 3.5 mm from each end; use the exact drawing and allow ventilation.
TB1 input terminals
Pin 1 = AC/L; pin 2 = AC/N; pin 3 = NC; pin 4 = FG. Connect FG to protective earth.
Control terminal confirmation
The shared drawing lists pin 5 NC, pin 6 DA−/N and pin 7 DA+/Ls expressly for DA type. It supplies no separate DA2 pin table; confirm the provided DA2 unit’s marking and manufacturer wiring before use.
TB2 output and adjustment
Pins 1–2 = Vo+; pins 3–4 = Vo−; pins 5–6 = NTC; pins 7–8 = IADJ. Observe LED polarity and do not exceed the selected current/power envelope.
Conductor and strip lengths
TB1: 0.5–0.75 mm²; TB2: 0.2–0.5 mm². Strip 8–9 mm for each terminal block. Use approved conductors with adequate current rating and system insulation.
Unit mass reference
255 g per unit, converted from the catalog PACKING single-unit reference. This is not a measured shipment or carton weight.
Safety, EMC and specification conditions
Construction and safety
SELV output and Class 2 power-supply design are stated in the catalog. Class 2 does not remove the fitted FG/protective-earth connection requirement.
Safety standards
The family safety table lists ENEC BS EN/EN 61347-1 and 61347-2-13; AS/NZS 61347.1 and AS/NZS IEC 61347.2.13; BS EN/EN 62384; GB/T 19510.1 and 19510.213. The cover explicitly excludes DA2 from its cURus, BIS and EAC approval marks; UL/CSA, BIS and EAC approval is not claimed for this DA2 SKU.
Withstand voltage
Input–output: 3.75 kVAC; input–FG: 2.0 kVAC; output–FG: 1.5 kVAC.
Isolation resistance
Input–output, input–FG and output–FG: 100 MΩ at 500 VDC, 25°C and 70% RH.
EMC emissions
BS EN/EN 55015; BS EN/EN 61000-3-2 Class C at load ≥50%; BS EN/EN 61000-3-3; GB/T 17743; GB 17625.1.
EMC immunity
BS EN/EN 61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -8 and -11; BS EN/EN 61547, light-industry level. Surge: line–earth 2 kV, line–line 1 kV.
Specification conditions
Unless specified otherwise, parameters are measured at 230 VAC input, rated current and 25°C ambient. The driver is a component for integration into final equipment, whose complete installation must be requalified for EMC.
Warranty
The manufacturer catalog states a 5-year warranty, subject to MEAN WELL’s warranty statement and applicable conditions.
Installation and selection notes
Installation safety
Disconnect the mains supply and prevent accidental reconnection before installation or maintenance. Have faults examined by a qualified technician; do not open the power-supply case yourself.
Ventilation and mounting
Keep ventilation clear and do not stack objects on the unit. Keep 10–15 cm clearance when the adjacent device is a heat source. Follow this model’s mounting, ambient-temperature and output-derating requirements.
System wiring and protection
Use approved primary and secondary wiring rated for at least the applicable unit current. Provide suitable system-level insulation and an enclosure around single-insulated wiring; verify EMC again in the completed system. Connect a fitted FG terminal to protective earth; the manual exempts only units marked Class II and ungrounded.
Environmental and load limits
Do not immerse the unit or install it near fire or above its specified ambient limit. Keep output current and power within the model’s rated operating envelope. If a fitted external flexible cable is damaged, replacement is limited to the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person.
Selection and accessories
Choose the complete suffix for the required control interface. The current catalog does not give a dedicated MEAN WELL accessory order code for this driver. External setting resistors, NTC sensors, dimming controllers and pushbuttons must be selected for the actual interface; the NTC is explicitly not supplied by MEAN WELL.
Applications
Linear lighting and LED fixtures such as office, panel and indoor lighting applications, subject to the fixture design, electrical ratings and thermal conditions.
