Factory charging profile
Three stages
Three-stage charging uses constant current, constant boost voltage and then float. The two-stage curve omits float. The illustrated completion/float transition is at 10% of charging current.
The charging table lists open and sealed lead-acid batteries. The programmable description also covers lithium-ion types, including lithium iron phosphate and lithium manganese. Confirm all voltage, current, stage and timeout settings with the battery manufacturer; the suggested Ah range is not permission to exceed its charging-current limit.
Use the separately selected MEAN WELL SBP-001 smart battery-charging programmer with a PC, or the actual fitted communication protocol, to configure curves and timeout parameters. This terminal version is supplied in power-supply mode and must be configured before use as a charger.
Power-supply and charging currents are different mode ratings. Do not substitute one for the other or replace the printed power limit by multiplying rounded charging-table values.
Input Supply and Timing
AC input voltage range
90–305 VAC
DC input voltage range
250–431 VDC
AC frequency
47–63 Hz
Typical power factor
>0.99 at 115 VAC; >0.95 at 230 VAC; >0.93 at 277 VAC, full load
Typical input current
10.1 A at 115 VAC; 5.3 A at 230 VAC; 4.5 A at 277 VAC
Typical efficiency
96%
Typical cold-start inrush current
40 A at 230 VAC
Leakage current
<0.75 mA at 240 VAC
Set-up / rise time
1800 / 80 ms at 115 or 230 VAC, full load
Typical hold-up time
16 ms at 230 VAC, 75% load; 12 ms at 230 VAC, full load
Unless otherwise stated, specifications are measured at 230 VAC, rated load and 25°C ambient. Active PFC is built in. Apply the input-voltage derating curve; the input range does not guarantee full output at every voltage.
Set-up and rise times refer to the first cold start. Rapid repeated switching can increase rise time.
Protection and Recovery
Overload threshold
105–125% of rated current
Overload recovery
Constant-current limiting, then output shutdown after 5 seconds; reapply AC power
Short-circuit protection
Constant-current limiting, then output shutdown after 5 seconds; reapply AC power
Over-voltage protection
125–145 V; shutdown, reapply AC power
Over-temperature protection
Shutdown; automatic recovery after cooling
In power-supply mode, output below 80% of the set voltage for five seconds causes shutdown. In charger mode the corresponding threshold is 67%. Use only the mode supported by this code.
External Voltage and Current Programming
External PV input
0–5 VDC
Output-voltage programming range
50–125% of nominal voltage
External PC input
0–5 VDC
Current programming range
20–100% of rated current
The voltage/current control relationships are non-linear. Use the catalogue curves rather than proportional interpolation. Below 0.4 V external control, the default setting applies. The minimum-control plateau is 50% voltage or 20% current.
PV/PC use the non-isolated GND(signal) reference, not GND-AUX. Applying PV control disables the local SVR voltage adjustment; follow the connections for this exact construction.
In power-supply mode, output below 80% of the set voltage for five seconds shuts down the output and requires AC power to be reapplied.
Auxiliary Output, Control and Status
Auxiliary output
12 V, 0.5 A, ±10%; maximum ripple 150 mVp-p
Auxiliary behaviour
Available independently of remote main-output ON/OFF
Remote ON/OFF
Short Remote ON/OFF to +12 V AUX for ON; open for OFF
DC OK signal
High for output ON; low for output OFF
Battery-temperature compensation
5 kΩ NTC thermistor, RTH+ and RTH−
AUX is a separate control supply. Do not add its current to the main output rating. Its GND-AUX return is isolated from the main DC output.
This order code supports CANBus. Use its manufacturer protocol manual for addresses, commands and bus parameters; PMBus, CANBus and RS-485 are not interchangeable interfaces.
The specification gives 4.4–5.5 V ON and −0.5 to +0.5 V OFF. Reference DC OK to GND-AUX; maximum sourcing current is 10 mA and maximum external voltage is 5.5 V.
Place the supplied NTC close to the battery. It compensates charging voltage and is distinct from internal over-temperature protection. The charger can operate without this NTC connection.
During charging, orange indicates stages 1/2, green indicates float/stage 3, and red indicates protection or charging timeout. Flashing red is the approximately 95°C internal-temperature warning while output remains operating; it is not an ambient-temperature rating.

For operation above 2000 m, reduce the permitted ambient temperature by 3.5°C for each additional 1000 m for this fanless supply. Follow the stated orientation and mounting clearances.
The horizontal temperature curve permits 100% load through +50°C and reduces to 60% at +70°C. The 60 Hz input curve shows approximately 65% load at 90 VAC, reaching full load at 180 VAC and remaining full through 305 VAC.
For the 100 V charging configuration, the separate low-temperature curve permits 20% rated charging load at −40°C and reaches full load at −30°C.
